ASI Foam Indentation Hardness Tester, ASI-IFD
ASI Foam Indentation Hardness Tester, ASI-IFD
Technical Features:
The Foam Indentation Hardness Tester is designed to determine the hardness of flexibleÂ
polyurethane (PU) foam by measuring the force required to indent a foam sample to aÂ
specified percentage of its original thickness. This method, known as Indentation ForceÂ
Deflection (IFD), is the industry-standard technique for characterising foam comfortÂ
grades used in furniture, mattresses, automotive seating, and healthcare applications.
The machine compresses the foam sample in a defined sequence — first pre-compressing
to 70% deflection, then measuring load at 25%, 50%, and 65% indentation levels with aÂ
programmed dwell time at each point. Results are displayed digitally on the load monitor,Â
eliminating operator read errors and enabling consistent, repeatable QC testing on theÂ
production floor
