ASI Foam Indentation Hardness Tester, ASI-IFD
Technical Features:
The Foam Indentation Hardness Tester is designed to determine the hardness of flexible
polyurethane (PU) foam by measuring the force required to indent a foam sample to a
specified percentage of its original thickness. This method, known as Indentation Force
Deflection (IFD), is the industry-standard technique for characterising foam comfort
grades used in furniture, mattresses, automotive seating, and healthcare applications.
The machine compresses the foam sample in a defined sequence — first pre-compressing
to 70% deflection, then measuring load at 25%, 50%, and 65% indentation levels with a
programmed dwell time at each point. Results are displayed digitally on the load monitor,
eliminating operator read errors and enabling consistent, repeatable QC testing on the
production floor
