The weight per unit area or grammage of any material in form of sheets is usually expressed as its GSM, that is its weight in grams per square metre of its area. It is one of the most important parameters to determine the quality of any paper. In addition to paper, it can also be used for evaluation of grammage of fabrics, coated fabrics, felt, plastic films and sheets, etc. Different models with single and dual range scales given below are available:
